The Fire Service has provided the Terms of Reference for this Review - See attached.

The Review will be led by an Independent Expert – Alan Goodwin from AFAC.

He is currently the Manager of International Programmes for the National Resource Sharing Centre in Australia and he was previously C.F.O with the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning in Victoria.

Alan Goodwin will be supported by Trevor Brown and Bryan Cartelle (PRFO Auckland).

The TOR directs the Review Team to talk with the Union.

The Union has agreed with the Fire Service that Mark Leonard – South Branch Vice President and Dunedin Local Secretary will co-ordinate the Unions response.

This will include:

  • Being available to be with any members being interviewed.
  • Looking at the way the debrief material (covering urban issues) is reflected in the review and ensuring it is accordingly covered.
  • Although not part of the Review Team Mark will be available to advise on issues.
  • The Fire Service has agreed to provide time-off for Mark to do this work.
