Cooking Fires

Members are reminded that cooking fires are not automatically false alarms but, in fact, structure fires with no structural damage, for the purpose of incident reporting.

The activation of a fire alarm that notifies the occupants of a fire in an oven, stove or toaster, for example, is a fire alarm that is doing exactly what it is designed to do.

Members should ensure that the appropriate information is recorded into the fire report to accurately record the attendance to a structure fire event.

If you have any queries on the above advice do not hesitate to contact one of your Local Representatives.
