FENZ – Change Support Role

Selected members – selected by FENZ – have been communicated with regarding becoming a FENZ Change Support Person.

The Union was not advised or consulted about this before members received this communication.

The Union discussed this proposal with David Strong – the FENZ Transition Director on 30 March.

It was agreed that the proposal as far as it affects Union members, would be put on hold and would be discussed at a Delegates meeting to be held on 6 April. All Locals will be represented – usually be the Local Secretary. In effect this Delegates Day is a Special Conference.

The Union does not want to see confusion at a Local level regarding information. The Union sees Local, Branch and National Officials as the mechanism for the dissemination of FENZ information and dealing with requests for information.

Local Officials are elected by Local members – they are trusted and respected and consequently an alternative communication channel could well lead to contradiction and confusion.

To settle on the best structure for transition and beyond is appropriately decided by Local Representatives.
