Three Life Members honoured in Hawkes Bay

NZPFU Member and Committee Member Brent Single was honoured at a function in Hawkes Bay this week. Brent has retired this month after 50 years-service as a firefighter and union stalwart.

National President Ian Wright and Vice President Joseph Stanley presented Brent with a Life Membership plaque and pin. Former Union Secretary Derek Best and President Peter Nicolle made the trip to recognise the outstanding dedication and service to NZPFU members.

It was also an opportunity to present two other Hakes Bay union stalwarts with Life Membership. Ken Simons had been honoured with Life Membership in 1996 and Roly Jones in 2007 but had not been presented with a plague or pin.

The Hawkes Bay social clubs and Locals put on a great function at the Napier Fire Station with retired and current firefighters and their partner's present.

Last Friday (15^th March 2024) NZPFU Tauranga and Kawerau Local Secretaries and Presidents and I met with National Commander Russell Woods, District Manager Jeff Maunder and Workplace Relations Senior Advisor Mike Todd in Tauranga.
