VALE SFF PATRICK SARJEANT

The NZPFU membership extends its heartfelt condolences and support to the family of firefighter SFF Patrick “Sarj” Sarjeant who tragically passed away this week.

SFF Sarjeant was a longstanding current member of Brown Watch at Hamilton City Station having served the community as a professional career firefighter since 1996. Prior to moving to the Waikato he served at Counties Manukau. A man of great integrity he had also previously served in the Armed Forces in Gisborne and South Auckland.

Waikato members have offered our sympathy and support for his wife Nicole and children Jessica, Caiden, Brodie, and Kourtney on behalf of the NZPFU membership.

His crew and colleagues within the Waikato have been gathering to support one another and earlier this week were joined by a group of Auckland firefighters to offer more support to the members in Hamilton.

A Final Call for SFF Sarjeant will be held at the Hamilton City Station, 189 Anglesea Street at 11am this Friday 12 July and firefighters are requested to assemble at 10.30am wearing full dress uniform, no caps. SFF Sarjeant’s funeral will follow at the Pavilion, Hamilton Gardens, Hungerford Cres, Hamilton at 12 noon.

SFF Sarjeant’s death will affect many in different ways. His family and colleagues are in our thoughts particularly at this time. Please look after one another and reach out to support those in need. Your comradery will be of great comfort to many. For others you may wish to seek assistance external to the NZPFU or FENZ. Please do not hesitate to contact your Local, the National Council or your manager if we can help in any way, including access to the appropriate support. Members will be impacted in different ways and at different times and our support and solidarity is with you at all times.
