This week we continued meeting with Members of Parliament seeking support for presumptive legislation to recognise firefighters’ occupational cancer. We met with National, Labour and New Zealand First MPs this week as we continue our education campaign.

FENZ continues to work with us on occupational hygiene matters with priority being given to sourcing interim new hoods for trainers pending robust procurement processes for new hoods for all members.

International expert/firefighter/lawyer and Winnipeg Firefighters’ Union President will be back in May to further promote the campaign. The function where Alex was to present to MPs in Parliament in March in Parliament will now go ahead in May 2019. He will also continue with the programme of meeting Members of Parliament individually to outline the scientific basis for, and the international experience of, presumptive legislation to look after firefighters’ in their greatest time of need.
