A DIFFERENT FORM WILL BE AVAILABLE NEXT WEEK FOR NZPFU MEMBERS WANTING TO SIGN UP NOW FENZ IS PAYING DIRECT FROM 3 JUNE 2024

FENZ has agreed to pay the $50 a week premium for the NZPFU Protect Income Protection Insurance direct to Protect on a bulk billing arrangement from 3 June 2024.

NZPFU Members who are already signed up to the NZPFU Protect Income Protection Insurance and their substantive FENZ position is covered by the collective employment agreement were sent the form and instructions by email yesterday.  The form and instructions were sent to the email you used to sign up to the income protection insurance.

In order to keep your insurance cover and be eligible for FENZ to pay the premiums direct from 3 June 2024  you must do the following:

  • Ensure you keep paying your $50 weekly premium by direct debit payment to the NZPFU Insurance account until the week commencing 3rd June 2024 and that you have paid all arrears by the 3rd June 2024.  If you fail to do so your insurance cover may be affected and you may not included for the ongoing payments made by FENZ direct to the employer.

When the NZPFU receives your completed form via wellington@nzpfu.org.nz the NZPFU will do the following:

  • Provide your new authorisation form to FENZ and Protect so that from 3 June 2024 your insurance premiums will be paid by FENZ direct to Protect.  It will not come out of your wages as FENZ will be paying the premiums direct to Protect.
  • Provided the NZPFU has received your completed attached new authority prior to 3 June 2024, and your premiums are not in arrears, the NZPFU will cancel your direct debit.
  • If you send the completed form to wellington@nzpfu.org.nz by 3 June 2024, and your premiums are not in arrears,  the last $50 direct debit from your account to the NZPFU Insurance account will be in the week of 27 May to 1 June 2024.
  • In July 2024 the NZPFU will provide FENZ with a spreadsheet of all premiums you have paid since July 2023 to be reimbursed back into the bank account that FENZ pays your wages.  FENZ has confirmed it will reimburse the full $50 a week for any premiums paid to the NZPFU Protect Income Protection Insurance to a maximum of $2600 for the 1 July 2023- 30 June 2024 year. You will not be reimbursed any premiums for the period from 3 June 2024 that FENZ have paid direct to Protect on your behalf.

NZPFU MEMBERS NOW WANTING TO SIGN UP TO THE PROTECT INSURANCE SCHEME FROM 3 JUNE CAN ACCESS THE DIFFERENT FORM NEXT WEEK

If you are not currently a member of the NZPFU Protect Income Protection Insurance scheme but want to sign up from 3 June 2024 when FENZ starts paying the premium direct, a different form will be sent out nationally next week.

You will have plenty of time to sign up prior to 3 June 2024 for FENZ to pay the premiums direct to the employer.  If you sign up for 3 June 2024 the premium payments will not come out of your bank account or your wages.  FENZ will be paying all premiums direct to the insurer on a bulk billing arrangement. You will not be reimbursed any premiums for the period from 3 June 2024 that FENZ have paid direct to Protect on your behalf.

Please click on the 3 May 2024 NZPFU National Notice for all the detail on the change.
