DAY TEN: Auckland City and Takapuna firefighters join the campaign trail

Today Alex Forrest continued taking the message of the need for presumptive legislation to recognise firefighters’ occupational cancer to members.

Large groups of on and off duty firefighters welcomed the opportunity to meet Alex at Auckland City and Takapuna fire stations.

The rate of specific cancers for firefighters are frightening statistics but having ACC cover will look after firefighters during their greatest time of need.

Alex also brings the message of occupational hygiene to ensure the employer and every firefighter takes every precaution to minimise the impact of the exposures to the toxic cocktail of carcinogens in structural fires.
