The response in Christchurch now has evolved into the recovery phase yet firefighters from outside of this Local continue to provide much needed support in operational roles. So at this point on behalf of the Christchurch Local, I wish to express our gratitude to you all, for the messages of support, for coming here to work side by side with us, for being mates!

This support we received from fellow firefighters from around the country was crucial, not just in sustaining our operational response, but it has enabled us to keep going both physically and mentally.

Your help has been a huge and much needed morale boost for us all. We of the Christchurch Local will never forget the support you have readily given, and continue to give us. The strength we receive from each other more than ever reinforces the value in being a part of a strong and proud National Union.
