Firefighters tired of fighting ACC for compensation


Firefighters are pushing for a dozen or more cancers to be recognised as linked to their occupation, so they don't have to battle ACC for compensation. Firefighters and firetrucks are expected on the forecourt of parliament at twelve-thirty today to remind politicans they are still not automatically covered for occupational cancers.

Retirement of Senior Station Officer Sulu Devoe

After 47 years of dedicated service, Senior Station Officer Sulu Devoe has made the decision to retire. Sulu has been a strong advocate for NZPFU members’ rights and terms and conditions of employment. He would always put firefighter safety and wellbeing front and centre, never failing to raise concerns with Fire and Emergency Management, sometimes ruffling feathers in the process.
