This information ONLY APPLIES to any NZPFU member who has income protection and/or life insurance other than the NZPFU Protect policy, or is a member that is paying their own NZPFU Protect Income Protection Insurance premiums because their role is not covered by the 2021-2024 NZPFU collective employment agreement.

  • In accordance with the collective employment agreement, NZPFU members can claim up to $2600 every financial year as reimbursement for any life and/or income protection insurance policy.
  • FENZ has requested any outstanding claims from 1 July 2021 to be submitted following the instructions and completing the attached reimbursement form for those financial years.

NZPFU members who are covered by the 2021-2024 NZPFU collective employment agreement (Firefighters/Officers, Comms Centre dispatchers and call takers, VSOs, Trainers, CRR and RR Advisors/Senior Advisors) and are covered by the NZPFU Protect Income Protection Insurance policy do not apply for the reimbursement.

  • FENZ now pays those insurance premiums direct to the insurer.
  • As FENZ was not directly paying the premiums for the full 2024-2025 year there will be reimbursements owing to those members but FENZ will automatically reimburse those members without those members applying.

NZPFU members who have their premiums for the NZPFU Compensation Insurance direct debited from their wages do not apply for the reimbursement.

  • As your premiums are being directly debited from your wages every fortnight FENZ has the information of your deductions and FENZ will automatically process the reimbursement for you.

In unity,
Wattie Watson
National Secretary
