Following a trial taken in Auckland Central District, and in the interest of providing Firefighters with consistent and quality post fire management, both Counties Manukau and Waitemata Districts have undertaken to rollout Post Fire Management Capability in their Districts. This resource has been funded locally at the request of the Auckland Local.

All personnel exposed to carcinogens at fires must carry out particulate suppression and best practice post fire activities. These processes are intended to reduce the effect and harm of asbestos and other cancer-causing products to Firefighters.

The Hazmat Command will continue to respond to support crews as the processes are embedded. All personnel changing out of dirty Level 2 PPE should do so in privacy.  All Officers must provide a private place for personnel to change without exception.  A gazebo is carried on the Hazmat Command appliance and is available for this purpose.
