31 OCTOBER STRIKE WITHDRAWN
7 NOVEMBER STRIKE NOTIFIED
Yesterday, the NZPFU and FENZ met in mediation.
Joint Statement of NZPFU and Fire and Emergency
The NZPFU and Fire and Emergency met in mediation today which was part of the facilitation application process.
The Parties have agreed to reconvene bargaining for the 3rd, 4th and 5th November 2025 in Christchurch.
The NZPFU has agreed to withdraw the strike notified for 31st October but has indicated a strike notice for the 7th November will be issued.
Depending on the progress of bargaining on the 3rd, 4th and 5th the NZPFU will consider withdrawing the strike on the 7th and any other notified strike, and FENZ will consider withdrawing its application for facilitation.
Both parties welcome the return to the bargaining table and both are committed to productive discussions in an attempt to conclude the negotiations.
As agreed, today the NZPFU withdrew the notification of the one-hour stoppage on 31 October 2025.
NZPFU members will NOT be undertaking the one-one complete stoppage on the 31 October 2025.
Today, as we indicated we would, the NZPFU issued a new strike notice for a one-hour stoppage from 12 noon on Friday 7 November.
The NZPFU may continue to issue strike notices to keep pressure on FENZ to reach a resolution of the bargaining.
The parties are returning to the bargaining table on the 3rd, 4th and 5th November 2025.
We welcome the return to the bargaining table and both parties are committed to productive discussions in an attempt to conclude negotiations.
In unity
