NZPFU CANCELS TODAYS STRIKE

Due to the moving extreme weather events warranting civil emergencies and deployments of additional resources including USAR and water rescue teams, and clean ups in the aftermath, the NZPFU has cancelled todays strike.

NZPFU members were due to strike for one hour from 12 noon today.

In some areas our members have been responding to multiple emergency situations for the past 12 hours. Others are now in the clean up phase and the weather event is moving south.

NZPFU has notified of two one hour strikes next week – our members will be striking from 12 noon on Monday 30^th March and Wednesday 1 April 2026.

An election for the Timaru Local President position shall be conducted by electronic voting commencing at 0900 (9am) Monday 6 October 2025 and closes 1700 (5pm) Friday 17 October 2025.
