The NZPFU will hold national strikes for one hour from 12 noon this Friday the 13th and on Monday 16th February 2026.

The NZPFU has now escalated the strike action to two one-hour strikes per week in a bid to put pressure on FENZ to change their position.  As is usual practice the National Committee meets every week to discuss the pending Friday and Monday strikes and the National Committee has determined this Friday and Monday the 16th will proceed.

We are in facilitated bargaining tomorrow and Friday.  Should there be any significant change to the situation the NCOM will notify the members.

Membership meetings

From Sunday the 15th February 2026 to Friday the 27th February the National Committee will be touring the country holding membership meetings with every Local.   I will attend every meeting with the Branch representatives who are attending the meetings of Locals within their Branch.  National President Joseph Stanley and National Vice President Martin Campbell will attend as many meetings around the country as they can.

This will be an opportunity to discuss the current bargaining in the current context and climate including FENZ’s attacks on capacity and capability of the fire service, the direct and implied attacks through the restructure and other relevant issues affecting out members.

FENZ has been notified of s26 meetings so everyone can attend.  Your Local will have organised with management how that will work for on-duty crews.

  • Members are urged to make every effort to attend.  Children are welcome.
  • If you can’t make a meeting with your Local you are welcome to attend a meeting at another location if that suits.
  • Please arrive early to your meeting and bring a pen so you can sign in and participate in the two ballots we will be holding.
