NZPFU supports WINDOI 2026

The NZPFU has six delegates attending the 2026 WIMDOI (Women in Male Dominated Occupations and Industries) Biennial Conference being held in Rotorua 12-14 May.

WIMDOI is an affirmative action initiative of the Trade Union movement promoting women’s participation in male-dominated occupations, supports union activism and networking.  The Biennial conference is an initiative between Australian and Aotearoa New Zealand women union activists to provide a well-organised gathering of women working in male-dominated industries to discuss their working lives, enhance skills, share best practices and strategies for workplace equality, and networking to enhance union power.  Delegates are unionised women in transport, maritime, aviation, electrical and construction trades and emergency services.  There is a special firefighters’ union connection as United Firefighters’ Union of Australia South Australia Branch Secretary Max Adlam is a WIMDOI committee member.

The 2024 conference was held in Cairns with 250 delegates representing approximately 30 unions from Australia and New Zealand.

The NZPFU has six delegates attending and has contributed as a sponsor.   We look forward to hearing all about the conference and the topics discussed from the NZPFU delegates.

In unity,
Wattie Watson
National Secretary
