It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Chris 'Picko' Pickering, who has died peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family.

Chris was a dedicated and long-serving member of the Whangārei Fire Station, with over 40 years’ service.  He dedicated many years to protect and enhance the working conditions of Whangarei Local members as long-standing Local Secretary for NZPFU in the early 2000's.

Our thoughts are with Teresa and family at this sad time.

Chris 'Picko' Pickering's life will be celebrated with a small ceremony on Tuesday 11th November at 10:30am at the Crematorium at Maunu Cemetery, Whangarei, to be followed by a larger gathering of all his family and friends at the Barge Park Event Center at 12:00pm.
