The Auckland Local wishes to pass on our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Station Officer Matt Walker of the Auckland Operational Support who passed away after a short illness.

Matt will be known to many of our members across Tamaki Makaurau, attending incidents, helping firefighters and the public at countless emergency incidents.

On behalf of all Auckland members, we offer our sympathy and support to the Auckland Volunteer Fire Brigade during this time of mourning.

Yesterday’s notice (below) from District Commander Mackereth once again highlights the dire state of the Fire and Emergency fleet.

There are currently NO relief aerials available in the country to replace the Parnell aerial that has suffered a steering malfunction.
