High Angle Rescue

Members are reminded to notify Comcen should the crew of the day (on High Angle Appliances) not have an appropriate and safe amount of trained personnel. If you still get responded to HAR calls, request Porirua 317 be attached. This will ensure that a crew of fully trained personnel will be on scene.

Keeping you Informed

Members are advised that as requested at the AGM, the Local Committee has looked at ways to improve information to members, and involving members in activities.

As a result, Local committee meetings will be held at Stations around the 2 Fire Districts. This will allow members to sit in on the committee meetings, to see and hear the committee at work. These meetings will be entered on SMS to advise the surrounding stations so that they can attend also.

Also, each of the committee members will be given a station as their station of responsibility. They will become the first point of contact for members on that station. The committee member will visit the station on all watch’s, to explain Union notices, committee minutes and generally be available to answer all questions and concerns.

SMS Rosters Training

Members are advised that there is to be a comprehensive training package for SMS Rostering Package. The CD and associated paper work that arrived on stations does not constitute the complete training package and represent another uncontrolled release of information by Management.

Proposed Station Inspections

Members are also advised that CFO Wgtn is planning to hold station inspections, including Individual interviews and drills which appear to be based on some sort of performance appraisal system. The Union and its members do not in any way take part in such schemes and therefore recommend to members not to be involved in any sort of interview or drill process considered to be a performance appraisal.
