Alex Forrest continues to push for presumptive legislation

International expert/firefighter/lawyer and Winnipeg Firefighters Union President Alex Forrest made the most of every opportunity while here in NZ to push for presumptive legislation to recognise firefighters occupational cancers.

Thursday and Friday included more meetings with MPs and advisors to the Minister for ACC.

Late on Friday night he recorded an interview with Newstalk ZB which will go to air at 9.05am tomorrow Sunday. Listen in and call in to put your support behind the campaign.

Alex started the long journey home in the wee hours of Saturday morning and we will keep the momentum up.

The NZPFU and all of our members extend are deep gratitude to Alex, the IAFF and Alex’s Winnipeg membership for the time that Alex has dedicated to our campaign. He has balanced his own union and IAFF commitments with our campaign and his involvement and media presences has been invaluable.

The next step is to get a Bill on the Parliamentary agenda.

In unity,
Wattie Watson
National Secretary
