The union is aware of the letters received by our members regarding the employers proposed changes to black watch establishments.

We are in the process of initiating with the employer consultation on the proposal. We are endeavouring to seek changes in the proposed clauses relating to early retirement and redundancy. In your CEA there is no redundancy agreement unless you are covered by Part 3 of that CEA.

In the meantime the Union urges you not to enter into any agreement with the employer on any of these matters. The union will be providing formal proposals to the employer next week as to redundancy compensation and other redundancy matters. And other serious matters relating to changes to conditions of employment.

A copy of the unions’ letter to the employer will be made available to members next week.

The union will be seeking a formal process with the employer which we hope will result in an agreement relating to all matters relating to the restructure.

There will be appropriate members meetings as soon as it is appropriate.
