Notice to Auckland Local Members

The Local has been made aware that there may be an effort by Fire Service Management to direct members into manning blacked Fraser-MAN appliances.

Given the legitimate Health and Safety concerns of the Local and its members in regard to the myriad of faults with these appliances, this would not be a lawful instruction.

If any member is instructed to crew one of these blacked appliances, the Local advises they politely decline and direct that Manager to contact a Local Union Official as this matter has been advanced to National Operations Manager Paul Turner and is being dealt with at that level.

City Rail Link Engagement

As members will be aware, several health and safety concerns were raised with Fire and Emergency by the Local with respect to the commissioning exercises undertaken at the City Rail Link.

Following the close of nominations for the election of the Central Branch positions of Branch Secretary, Branch President and Branch Vice President, I received one nomination for Branch Vice President and nominations for Branch President and Branch Secretary .
