The Union is aware that the Injury Management Unit from Wellington is visiting members in terms of their ACC claims, which under the ACC Partnership Programme, the Fire Service manages.

Members are reminded that you are entitled to a support person/Union Official Representative at any meeting that the Injury Management requests a claimant to attend. Past experience shows that it is good practice to have an experienced Union Official with you at these meetings.

For a member to go into any meeting unrepresented leaves that member open to any wild or crazy proposal that the Injury Management Unit may dream up. It also makes the Union’s job harder to represent or ‘fix up’ any problem that the Injury Management Unit stitches you into.
