The Auckland Local has received enquiries from one or two members regarding a proposal put to them by FRM Butt regarding Temporary Appointments under Section 66.

The present proposal is that the applicants would transfer to Black Watch as an SSO and do the office work at present done by DCFO’s. Should they be required to respond to an incident, they will become DCFO’s.

The Auckland Local’s position on Section 66 Appointments has not changed and is that “no member should apply for the advertised temporary vacancies”.

As far as the latest FRM proposal is concerned, if you sit in the DCFO seat doing the DCFO jobs, you are a DCFO, and the above direction will apply.

Members will probably have worked out that some of our colleagues have applied, contrary to the Union’s directive, for the advertised temporary promotions. Those members should be in no doubt about the ramifications of accepting those positions, and should be aware that to do so directly contravenes a Union instruction.
