The Union is advised that the Union’s and the Chiefs & Deputies Society’s appeal against their Interim Injunction application rejection in the Employment Relations Authority will be heard in the Employment Court, Wellington, on Thursday 29 May 2008.

Fire Safety – Management Plan

Please also refer to Newsletter No. 2 – 26 March 2008.

On receiving advice of meetings being organized for 4 June along the lines as those proposed earlier in Newsletter No.2, the Union contacted the Fire Service to advise them that any such meetings did not comply with the agreement made at the meeting with the Fire Service of 5 March 2008.

In response the Fire Service admitted confusion between various sections of the Fire Service and advised that they accepted the agreement made at the 5 March meeting will stand.

Consequently, the meetings advised for Fire Safety staff for 4 June have been cancelled.

The Fire Service accepts that before any meetings of Fire Safety staff might occur to discuss any change, such proposals must be subject to genuine consultation with the Union.

The Union understands that it will receive communication from the Fire Service regarding this shortly.
