Auckland Fleet

The Auckland Local writes to members with regards to the appliance fleet. The Local has heard from members that some defects, as written in Appliance Defect Books, are not being repaired. That is, members are being called to uplift an appliance from workshops following servicing and not all noted defects have been corrected. This is quite bizarre, as the purpose of sending a vehicle for servicing is so that it can be serviced and maintained, including fixing things that are wrong with it.

In accordance with the Rules of the New Zealand Professional Firefighters Union, nominations are hereby called for the following positions:

The Auckland Local has been dealing with a number of matters that can be seen as intimidating members by Area Management throughout Auckland in relation to matters associated with employment conditions, entitlements, sick leave, work accident and non-work accident management.

Below is provided the notice put out by the Chief Executive. You will note that the Union was consulted over this and supports its intentions.

A successful Conference was held 28-30 November in Akaroa with Delegates from all Locals present – as well as four guests from the UFU of Australia.

It has been brought to the attention of the Union that some members who have qualified as Grade 1 Drivers are being denied the relevant pay rise that accompanies this achievement. The excuse provided by Management is that there is a disconnect between National Training and Area Management in terms of paperwork and notifications to Payroll.
